   Sound Technician

Sound technicians operate technical equipment to amplify, enhance, record, mix or reproduce sound in support of performing arts, and may also assemble and maintain sound equipment.

Qualification Information

Group A units - 5 required select from:
  • Supervise technical operations
  • Establish and manage resources and technical requirements
  • Implement workplace occupational health and safety procedures
  • Manage a project
  • Manage physical assets
  • Manage systems
  • Participate in, lead and facilitate a team
ELECTIVE UNITS (9 required - 5 from Group B units required and 4 others )

  • Breakdown soundtracks
  • Edit sound using digital systems
  • Install, align and test sound equipment
  • Maintain and expand music knowledge and critical listening skills
  • Operate sound mixing console
  • Operate sound reinforcement system
  • Repair and maintain sound equipment
  • Specify sound systems

  • Manage a project

  • Monitor staff performance
  • Plan assessment
  • Recruit and select staff
  • Review assessment
  • Roster staff
  • Train small groups
