   Editor

Employees are responsible for 'telling a story' by joining together film or video images, graphics and text, usually by following a script or working with directors, journalists or creative producers. Work may cover: receipt of film or video footage; conversion of all footage onto a disk; matching pictures with sound (for film only); deciding on and marking up shots to be cut out or kept; linking shots into a rough version; editing film to exact final length; ensuring copy meets censorship standards and so on.

CORE UNITS (2 required)
  • Develop and apply industry knowledge
  • Follow health, safety and security procedures
SPECIALIST UNITS (5 required)
  • Prepare material and documents for editing
  • Operate a non-linear editing system
  • Create 2D digital animation
  • Create 3D digital animation
  • Create 3D digital models and images
ELECTIVE UNITS (8 required)
  • Collaborate with colleagues in planning and producing a project
  • Edit dialogue and sound
  • Determine lighting requirements and operate lighting
  • Conduct research
  • Edit recently-shot material for immediate transmission
  • Write content and/or copy
  • Shoot television material in a multicamera environment
  • Set up a camera
