   Set Maker

Set makers use a range of media including backdrops, props and scenic art to create the required atmosphere and setting for a performance. The main responsibilities of set makers include working with others to construct a set, assisting producing scenic art, and coordinating the installation of staging elements.

Qualification Information

CORE UNITS (2 required)
  • Develop and apply industry knowledge
  • Follow health safety and security procedures
SPECIALIST UNITS (3 required)
  • Assemble and maintain the set during production
  • Make sets for the screen
  • Prepare and prime scenic-art cloths
ELECTIVE UNITS (9 required)
  • Collaborate with colleagues in planning and producing a project
  • Conduct research
  • Coordinate the purchase and hire of equipment/supplies
  • Make props for the screen
  • Supervise technical operations
  • Lower and dismantle rigging equipment
  • Manage a project
  • Participate in negotiations
  • Participate in, lead and facilitate a team
