   Sound Technician

Employees operate technical equipment to amplify, enhance, record, mix or reproduce sound. Work generally includes: determining the acoustic requirements of the studio or location; setting up, testing and operating equipment; selecting, placing and adjusting microphones; checking and adjusting sound levels, balance and quality and; liaising with performers and instructing them on microphone use. They may also edit, mix and record sound or music; service, maintain and repair equipment and; build and install sound systems.

SPECIALIST UNITS (4 required)
  • Breakdown soundtrack
  • De-noise soundtracks
  • Install, align and test sound equipment
  • Lay soundtracks
ELECTIVE UNITS (5 required)
  • Mix sound sources
  • Repair and maintain sound equipment
  • Edit sound using digital systems
  • Operate a studio panel
  • Record sound
