   Artist - Studio

Employees design, make and repair objects which have both functional and artistic qualities, working in wood, metal, glass, leather, ceramics, textiles and other materials.

Qualification Information

CORE UNITS (7 required)
  • Originate concept for own work and conduct critical discourse
  • Follow health, safety and security procedures
  • Select and apply drawing techniques and media to represent and communicate the concept
  • Develop understanding of own Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity
  • Develop and apply knowledge of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts practice
  • Produce work which expresses own Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity
  • Research and critically analyse history and theory to inform artistic practice

  • Develop self as artist
  • Select sites and plan work
  • Work in a culturally diverse environment
  • Use and adapt to changes in technology
  • Address copyright requirements
  • Prepare, store and maintain finished work
  • Undertake marketing activities
  • Prepare text and graphics files for print processing
  • Select and prepare work for exhibition
  • Research and experiment with techniques to produce prints
  • Research and experiment with techniques to produce sculpture
